The Institute for European Policy will be holding a roundtable discussion on the topic of \u201cEnhancing Parliamentary Scrutiny over the use of EU Funds\u201d, on\u00a021.02.2013 (Thursday),<\/u>\u00a0starting at\u00a010.00 am,<\/u>\u00a0\u00a0in the\u00a0hotel Aleksandar Palace<\/u>.\u00a0The project is part of the EPI program for monitoring of the use of EU funds in the Republic of Macedonia and is financed by the European Fund for the Balkans.<\/p>\n
The project includes a completion of comparative research of the practices of parliamentary scrutiny over the use of EU funds in the region- new member states, or candidate states: Slovenia, Bulgaria, Croatia and Macedonia. The comparative research findings will serve as a ground for discussion. The discussion will strive to foresee and present the best practices and to give the most appropriate recommendations for the progress of the parliamentary scrutiny over the use of EU funds.<\/p>\n
Invitees at the roundtable are experts who have been following the progress of the parliamentary scrutiny, including the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance of the EU. After the presentation of the research,\u00a0starting at 11.15 am<\/u>, speeches will be delivered by Mr. Hajrula Misini, the Chairman of the Committee on European Issues, Mr. Goran Misovski, Deputy-chair of the Finance and Budget Committee (Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia), Dr. Dimitar Mirchev, Professor and member of the National European Integration Council and counselor of the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Ivica Bocevski, MA, former Deputy-Prime Minister, Mr. Jovan Manasijevski, former Chair of the the Finance and Budget Committee (Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia), Dr. Karolina Ristova- Aasterud, Assistant Professor and former Chairman of the Committee on European Issues (Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia) and Ms.Biljana Stojanoska, MA, IPA funds researcher in the Institute for European Policy (EPI).<\/p>\n
